A Dean Winter Labor Government will deliver TassieDoc - Tasmania’s first 100% free regular doctors’ clinics, ensuring more Tasmanians can get the care they need, when they need it.
Today, I am proud to announce Ravenswood as a confirmed location for a TassieDoc clinic.
It means that people in Launceston will be able to access a regular doctor – all they will need is their Medicare card.
It’s part of Labor’s broader plan to open five fully bulk-billed clinics across the state. The clinic will operate with extended hours, including evenings and weekends, and will offer both in-person and telehealth appointments.
A Tasmanian family could save around $650 per year – meaning TassieDoc will deliver real cost of living relief as well as easier access to healthcare.
The Albanese Labor Government’s Urgent Care Clinics have taken pressure off emergency departments, but a Dean Winter Labor Government will ensure Tasmanians can see a regular doctor for free.
TassieDoc will be run by a State Labor Government and be supported by the Federal Labor Government’s increased investment in Medicare - because delivering better health outcomes is in Labor's DNA.
A Dean Winter Labor Government will also invest in the workforce to make this plan work – offering scholarships for midwives and incentives to recruit and retain doctors across the state – ensuring quality care is available in every community.
After 11 years of the Liberals, Tasmanians shouldn’t have to wait any longer to see a doctor for free. It’s time for a fresh start and Labor is ready to deliver it.
