Barnett must come clean on secret court cases
The Attorney-General needs to come clean today about the Liberal Government’s secret legal fees scandal – and he needs to rule out a second secret Supreme Court case involving another Liberal Minister.
All week, Ministers have stonewalled basic questions about the scandal, which is nowengulfing the entire Cabinet.
Every member of cabinet knew Madeleine Ogilvie had initiated Supreme Court proceedings. Every single one of them watched her mislead Parliament in November last year and did nothing.
Instead of giving Tasmanians straight answers, they have run a cover-up strategy - hiding behind nonsense legal excuses, refusing basic questions, and hoping this scandal goes away.
It won’t.
Tasmanians are sick of the secrecy. They are sick of public money being spent behind closed doors and politicians blatantly lying about it.
Mr Barnett should answer one simple question today: is there another secret Supreme Court case involving a Liberal Minister that Tasmanian taxpayers are paying for?
