Economy flatlining after 11 years of the Liberals

11 July 2025

Jeremy Rockliff can release as many glossy statements as he likes, but they won’t change his government’s disastrous track record when it comes to managing the economy.

After 11 years of the Liberals, Tasmania’s economy is flatlining and jobs are vanishing.

So far in 2025, Moody’s downgraded Tasmania’s credit outlook from stable to negative, following S&P’s November 2024 downgrade.

The ABS has released figures showing more jobs have been lost since Premier Rockliff took his government into minority than were lost during COVID.

The CommSec State of the States report highlighted that Tasmania was the only state with negative employment growth and sat bottom of the leaderboard for annual growth rates of the eight economic indicators.

Deloitte’s Business Outlook forecasted Tasmania will have the weakest economic growth in the nation through to 2030 and confirmed that Tasmania is facing a jobs crisis.

After 11 years of the Liberals, Tasmania’s economy needs a Fresh Start, and the only way to make that happen is to vote Labor.

Shadow Treasurer
