The Rockliff Liberal Government has a plan to destroy Tasmania’s budget, then sack 2,500 nurses, teachers and other critical public sector workers.
Only Labor will give Tasmania a fresh start and a long-term plan to fix the budget.
A Dean Winter Labor Government will:

Lock in $1 billion in savings now.

Grow the economy and allocate every cent of new revenue to paying down Liberal debt.

Establish a Budget Repair Round table, working together to clean up the Liberals’ mess.

Labor’s plan to fix the budget has today received the endorsement of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI). The Chamber is formally backing our strategy and will participate in a Budget Repair Roundtable under a Dean Winter Labor Government.
This is the fresh start Tasmania Labor will bring to governing: one where business, workers, the community sector and my Labor government all work together to clean up the Liberals’ mess.
The TCCI’s support reflects a growing consensus across the state that we can’t continue to ignore the crisis created by the Liberals. We need a Fresh Start.
Repairing the budget will not be easy and it won’t happen overnight. But if we are honest with Tasmanians, if we bring them with us, and if we draw on the expertise and ideas of the whole community, we can get it done.
The only way to deliver the Fresh Start Tasmania needs is to vote Labor. A vote for independents or the Greens will risk the re-election of the Liberals with more arrogance, more debt, and the sale of our assets.
