Howlett must come clean on secret legal fees

08 June 2026

Dean Winter MP
Shadow Treasurer

8 June 2026

Howlett must come clean on secret legal fees

Premier Rockliff needs to explain why Jane Howlett remains in Cabinet while refusing to answer basic questions about more than $300,000 in taxpayer-funded legal fees.

Madeleine Ogilvie resigned from Cabinet because she could not answer questions about her secret Supreme Court case.

If Jane Howlett is not a party to Supreme Court proceedings, why won’t she simply say so?

If her legal fees have nothing to do with an Integrity Commission investigation into her, why won’t she rule that out?

And if the spending is entirely proper, why won’t she tell Tasmanians what she’s spent $300,000 of their money on?

It is untenable for Jane Howlett to remain in Cabinet while she is refusing to answer questions about court proceedings, Integrity Commission matters, and secret taxpayer-funded legal bills.

Jane Howlett must come clean, and Premier Rockliff must explain why she is still in Cabinet.
