Is Jane Howlett a party to a Supreme Court matter? Yes or no?

09 June 2026

Dean Winter MP
Shadow Treasurer

9 June 2026

Is Jane Howlett a party to a Supreme Court matter? Yes or no?

Is Jane Howlett a party to a Supreme Court matter?

That's the question the Minister herself, or Premier Rockliff must answer today.

Madeleine Ogilvie was able to tell Parliament she was a party to a Supreme Court matter.

Ms Ogilvie's disclosure means there is no legal or Cabinet precedent for Jane Howlett to refuse to answer the question.

If Minister Howlett continues to dodge the question while Tasmanians pick up the tab for her more than $300,000 in secret legal bills, her position in Cabinet is untenable too.

Premier Rockliff accepted Madeleine Ogilvie's resignation on the basis of protecting legal privilege but needs to explain why he has a different standard for Minister Howlett.
