The Liberals have effectively admitted they already plan to break their election promises.
The costings they provided to the TCCI also prove exactly why, after 11 years, the Liberals can’t be trusted on health.
Somehow, the Liberals are claiming that all the ongoing health announcements they’ve made this election can be delivered for $6 million over four years.
Matching Labor’s TassieDoc commitment alone amounts to $18 million in operational spending.
And that's not to mention their other health commitments, which include:
- Tasmanian Breast Care Centre - Operational Expenses (costed by Treasury at $45 million)
- Subsidies to extend pharmacy opening hours
- The Bubble ($3.8m)
- Mammogram Sites x 4
- Master of Nurse Practitioner Scholarships
- Nurse Practitioners in Private Practice Funding
- IVF Treatment Rebate ($5 million)
- Meningococcal B Vaccination Program
- Medical Transport Solution
- Expansion to Bicheno Medical Clinic ($500,000)
And that's before factoring in more than $400 million of health infrastructure announcements.
Either the Liberals don't plan to deliver their promises, or they're trying to hide the fact they'll rack up even more debt.
The Liberals’ fantasy accounting is why Tasmania’s finances are in such a perilous position after 11 years of dodgy claims about health and the budget.
It’s time for a Fresh Start for Tasmania, and the only way to make that happen is to vote Labor.
