Liberals must explain secret lease deal with Larry Kestelman
Labor is calling for the Liberals to explain the secret deal to lease MyState Bank Arena to a billionaire for less than a family pays to rent a home in Glenorchy.
The $175,000 cashback arrangement which facilitates the deal of the century was never disclosed by the Government.
Over the period of the lease, it is effectively a $10 million gift to billionaire.
LK Group’s exclusive cash-back offer only appeared in an “Amending Deed” relating to the lease of the facility dated 7 June 2021.
The Liberals must come clean on:
- How can they justify leasing one of Tasmania’s premier sporting assets for less than a family in Glenorchy pays to rent a house?
- Why the cash-back offer wasn’t in the original lease, but was included in the amending deed?
- How did it come to be included?
- What advice was received before agreeing to the cash-back’s inclusion?
The entire Wilkinson’s Point saga is emblematic of a staggering pattern of secret deals, governance failures, and a disregard for taxpayer money under the Liberals.
The decision to lease MyState Bank Arena to a billionaire for a pittance arguably stinks the most, and Tasmanians deserve answers.
