Rockliff fails to defend his role in Tasmanian Liberal wipeout

06 May 2025

Premier Jeremy Rockliff has pointedly avoided answering questions about his undeniable role in last weekend’s Tasmanian Liberal wipeout.

In Tasmania the Liberals polled just 24 per cent – the worst of any state – and the swing to Labor was three times the national result.

After 11 years, Tasmanians have given up on Premier Rockliff and his Minority Liberal Government.

The Premier is responsible for an unprecedented budget disaster, for making Tasmania an international embarrassment with the ferries fiasco, and for costing 7,000 Tasmanians their full time job since he went into minority.

He’s broken promises about making Tasmania the healthiest state by 2025, and for bringing education results up to the national average by 2022.

On his watch, young people are leaving for the mainland in record numbers.

Tasmania has sent the Liberal Party a resounding message, and the Premier is ignoring it.
