Rockliff has tea and cake while Tasmanians wait for answers

Rockliff has tea and cake while Tasmanians wait for answers

Premier Rockliff has yet again refused to front the media and answer basic questions about the legal fees scandal engulfing his Liberal Government.

Instead of explaining why Jane Howlett remains in Cabinet while refusing to answer questions about more than $300,000 in secret taxpayer-funded legal bills, her promotion was made official today - over tea and cake at Government House.

There could not be a clearer picture of an arrogant, out-of-touch government.

Madeleine Ogilvie resigned from Cabinet after misleading Parliament about a Supreme Court matter.

Jane Howlett has now been given extra portfolios while refusing to say whether she is also party to a Supreme Court matter, whether her legal fees relate to an Integrity Commission investigation, or what Tasmanians have paid more than $300,000 for.

The Premier has not fronted the media since Madeleine Ogilvie resigned more than a week ago.

After 13 years, the Liberals have become arrogant, secretive, and allergic to accountability.
