Ben Mckinnon is your Labor Candidate for Rosevears.
Ben Mckinnon has been a teacher in Launceston for close to twenty years and is proud of the role he's played shaping the next generation. As a teacher, that experience has driven him to put his hand up and give the community a stronger voice when decisions are made.
Ben and his wife have made their home in West Launceston with their two kids, and he is passionate about improving the community for not just his family, but for everyone across the West Tamar.
Ben went to school here, has spent his career teaching here, and is now raising the next generation of his family in the electorate he hopes to represent.
Working in schools every day has given Ben a unique perspective on the community. He sees when families are thriving, and also when they're facing challenges. He is passionate about mental health for students, families, and the teachers who support them, and understands the mental load educators carry.
Ben’s priorities are improving education for all Tasmanians, enhancing road safety and delivering greater support for mental health.
Ben has a long history in his community as a case manager at City Mission's Missiondale Rehabilitation Centre, a Social Inclusion Officer delivering employment programs, a touring musician performing around Australia and Tasmania and has strong involvement in community sport.
Ben believes in the Labor values of equality and respect, and wants to see everyone in Launceston and the West Tamar to get a fair go.
