Tammy Tyrrell

Senator for Tasmania

Tammy Tyrrell

Senator for Tasmania

Tammy Tyrrell is a proud Tasmanian who grew up in Ulverstone on the North West Coast.
She’s worked in paddocks, factories and offices, helped people find work, worked in an electorate office and, since 2022, represented Tasmania in the Commonwealth Parliament.
Tam knows what life looks like outside politics. She knows what it’s like when the bills keep coming, when dealing with government becomes harder than it should be, and when people who are doing their best still need someone in their corner.
That’s what she has tried to bring to the Senate.
Since being elected, Tammy has fought for better housing, stronger homelessness services, fairer support for carers and families, and a better deal for Tasmania. She has also pushed hard on the cost of living, including chairing a Select Committee on the Tasmanian Freight Equalisation Scheme — because when you’re an island state, the cost of freight is the cost of everything.
Tammy joined the Labor Party in 2026 to keep doing what she came to Parliament to do: help people, fix problems and get results for Tasmania. She sees what needs fixing, works out who needs help, and gets on with the job.
